Calcium tungstate occurs in nature as scheelite and is among the most important luminophores, When it is exposed to x-rays, it appears blue. This characteristic makes it particularly suitable for use in medical technology. It is used in transfer film in x-ray devices or as a contrast agent.
The calcium tungstate is used as fluorescent paint, photography using mask, medicine, X-ray photographs and sunlight, in dental medicine as a component for tooth root fillings. Here it is used as an x-ray contrast agent, enabling optimum dental treatment.
